Pangkor is an island tropical paradise, just 40 minutes by boat from the mainland, with pristine sandy beaches fringed with palm trees. Here you can settle down and read a book or just admire the beautiful scenery before cooling down in the clear aquamarine sea. If you are feeling energetic then hire a boat for some sea fishing, paddle a canoe from one isolated bay to another or go snorkelling around the coral reef before having a sundowner on the beach. If this is too tame then grab the bottled water and sunhat and head into the jungle on a trek up Pangkor Hill where you can spot rare orchids, monkeys, exotic butterflies and colourful birds. Rent a bicycle and visit some of the fishing villages, where life has changed little, and try some of the freshest seafood from one of the many street food stalls.
